The absence of a comprehensive pediatric oncology treatment center in northern Nevada presents an added level of crisis to what is already a financially and emotionally devastating fight for young patients and their families. AKF provides access to an otherwise unavailable, crucial community resource by providing the financial aid necessary for Nevada's youth and their families to travel to professional medical facilities, where they can receive highly specialized treatment unique to their type of cancer.

1976 marked the beginning of operations for the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. The Club was formed and financed by local business men and women and many concerned citizens. In late 1981, the Club's main facility opened at its current location on E. 9th St. in Reno – the Club now boasts a total of 20 locations throughout Reno, Sparks and Fernley.

For more than 25 years, CARE Chest has been re-using durable medical equipment, putting our community's resources into action. We have provided over 127,000 individual services in Northern Nevada and been a reliable resource for individuals who find themselves facing medical poverty. We are community-driven organization. Over 85% of our funding is private, and 100% of donations to our agency stay in Nevada.

For Kids Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial aid and assistance to children in Northern Nevada with specific unmet needs such as medical, dental, mental health, or educational services for which other resources are insufficient or nonexistent. For example, we have provided the funding for medical consultations, psychological counseling, prescriptions, and eye glasses. We have funded dental care, computers, summer school, and hearing tests.

VSA arts of Nevada was founded in 1986 to provide arts programming to all Nevadans, especially the 15 percent of the population with some kind of disability. The organization provides art classes and workshops for children and adults, produces festivals, places artists in classrooms and health care facilities, and conducts training workshops for teachers. They are a member of the international VSA arts organization, which is an affiliate of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. VSA arts was founded by Jean Kennedy Smith in 1974 "to create a society where all people with disabilities learn through, participate in and enjoy the arts." "VSA" stands for "Vision of an inclusive community, Strength through shared resources, and Artistic expression that unites us all."
